The challenge
The biggest challenge was sealing the walls airtight in a room full of existing installations. Cable trays, pipework, pedestals and other obstacles were in the way everywhere, so not a single panel could be installed as standard. Every HPL wall and every insulation panel had to be measured, cut to size and precisely fitted around the existing installations. Only with this custom work do the cold and hot aisles stay properly separated, with no cold air lost.
What we did
DC Connect installed HPL walls and insulation panels beneath the raised floor, fully separating the cold and hot aisles above. All walls were cut to size and sealed airtight around the existing installations, and the project was delivered to specification.
The outcome
The result is fully separated cold and hot aisles, with cold air from the cooling units under the floor flowing straight to the cold aisle without mixing with the warm air. This means more efficient cooling, a more stable temperature for the IT equipment and less energy loss.
