Datacenter 05 — Amsterdam

Construction datacenter with strict security regulations in the Netherlands

Hot aisle containment with blanking panels

The challenge

This was one of DC Connect's larger projects. Because the data center was still under construction, our field engineers worked in full PPE throughout — demanding conditions that called for careful shift planning to keep the team fresh. Coordinating transport was a major challenge in its own right: with multiple contractors installing throughout the data center at the same time, moving the large volume of materials efficiently required careful planning. Installing this many hot aisle containments within a fixed timeframe also meant scaling up the team quickly, with every field engineer properly briefed to keep the project running efficiently.

What we did

Close communication between the foreman and DC Connect's project manager kept everyone informed of progress on this large-scale project throughout. Scheduling proper breaks and maintaining a good working atmosphere on site kept the project running smoothly — which also came through in the quality of contact between DC Connect's management and the client. At the end of each day, DC Connect updated the client on progress through photos and direct communication. When issues came up, they were addressed quickly, with meetings held and solutions agreed on the same day.

The outcome

Most of the rooms at this location are now up and running. The hot aisle containments are airtight, the doors close properly, and the client is satisfied with the result. Close communication and a well-organized team were what made this large-scale project run smoothly from start to finish.
